Recovering after chin reduction

A full recovery takes between 6 and 8 weeks, although normal activities can resume in as little as 5 to 10 days.

Bruising and swelling of the jaw, neck and lower cheeks is to be expected following surgery, as is nausea resulting from the general anaesthetic.

Chewing and maybe swallowing will be difficult in the first few days following surgery so a light diet with plenty of liquid should be consumed during this period.
